A beautiful route that climbs up the hills above Rapallo through scenic areas and dense forests.
Our journey begins in Via Pietrafraccia, just off the Via Aurelia to the east, opposite the entrance to the miniature golf.
Take Via Sant'Ambrogio, a trail that met immediately on your right. The trail consists of a steep flight of concrete that climbs between high walls, interrupted by a number of more flat and open where you can admire beautiful views of Rapallo.
At the crossroads with Via Linare, continue left along the "creuza" that goes between age and houses, and ends in a small clearing, where, on the left, find the staircase leading to the church of Sant'Ambrogio. Here you will find a wide panoramic view from Rapallo to Portofino. On the square you will also find a tap for drinking water, for a possible supply (did not meet up to other Montallegro).
Go past the church and continue on Via San Bernardo, the asphalt road in front of you, to leave after 50 meters on the right and continue on the trail of the white chapel. You are now at a crossroads, go left down uphill Boitano, wide stone steps that rise between age and rustic and take you to a road.
Go through it to pick up the narrow path, steep and covered with leaves rising in the bush. A pleasant stretch of flat, which develops in a beautiful forest of oak and chestnut trees, will allow you to take a little 'breath before resuming the climb again.
The path is now very narrow, so that the dot was placed a protective railing now a little worn, but in addition to being surrounded by peace and silence you can enjoy the spectacular scenery of the surrounding valleys, ranging up to Sestri Levante.
Arrived at a small shrine, go left along the path down and then up and continue in a fairly flat. Be careful because at some points is very tight and shows some signs of slowing down.
When you are at a crossroads where next the symbol also appears continue on the left (right you go in Chiavari). Arrive at the restaurant as well and then to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Montallegro.
From there go down the grand staircase and head to the cableway station (convenient alternative to reach Rapallo) to take the path that descends a staircase and follows with suddenly a little 'flatter overlooking San Maurizio Monti.
The path all downhill, pretty steep, spread on the pavement in the shade of chestnut trees alternating stretches and stretches more open and sunny, especially when you pass a viewpoint, where you can stop on a nice bench. From there follows a series of switchbacks takes you to a road, to locality "Il Pellegrino".
Go through it to resume the trail, the subject of a recent maintenance, which falls in the middle of beautiful villas and, passing behind the chapel of St. Bartolomeo, approaches the center of Rapallo, meeting the first buildings.
Through a concrete staircase you find yourself again in Via Don Minzoni, behind the Theatre of the Clarisse.
